Amanda Staveley intervenes in Joelinton talks – The Telegraph

Newcastle United are nearing an agreement for a new contract with Brazilian international Joelinton, according to The Telegraph.

The 27-year-old is out of contract in 2025 and it seemed as if talks had stalled due to the two parties being unable to come to an agreement on wages.

Luke Edwards of The Telegraph now knows this not to be the case and has said that Newcastle are “making good progress”, with Amanda Staveley taking over proceedings in an attempt to agree a new deal. A four-year-deal is set to be tabled for the Brazilian, the ball is now in his court to agree and sign.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe had feared that he had played his last game for the club and had admitted getting him to sign a new contract was his top priority ahead of what should be a busy summer transfer window.

If Joelinton is to remain on Tyneside, he would become one of the top earners at the club.
