According to The Mail’s Craig Hope, Newcastle are in talks with Lloyd Kelly’s representatives over a potential summer move to St James’ Park.
The versatile Bournemouth defender has entered the final few months of his contract at the Vitality and is on course to leave as a free agent over the summer.
Hope reports that AC Milan and clubs in Germany are also showing real interest in the 25-year-old, but Steve Nickson is ‘pressing ahead with talks’ as Eddie Howe looks to be reunited with the man he brought to the South Coast for £13m almost five years ago.
Kelly has been the Cherries’ club captain for over two years and is comfortable playing at left-back and at centre-back, allowing him to adopt a similar role to Dan Burn in our squad.
Interestingly, the same piece mentions that former Monaco talent-spotter Paul Mitchell has also been ‘spoken about’ regarding the sporting director post vacated by Dan Ashworth, although some behind the scenes belief Nickson could fill that void.
