Arsenal are reportedly still interested in the potential transfer of Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, but he could cost as much as €80million.
Zirkzee looks a talented young player, but his goal return this season doesn’t exactly scream world class, even if he might have that potential for the future, so it’s debatable if he’s really worth that kind of fee.
However, that now looks to be the going rate for a player of this profile, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, as cited and translated by Sport Witness.
It’s suggested that Manchester United paying a similar fee for Rasmus Hojlund last summer has inflated the market a bit, as that’s now the kind of fee Bologna will push for with Zirkzee.

Arsenal have shown they’re not afraid to pay the big bucks for players now, with recent signings like Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus showing their ambition.

However, while there may have been some concern at stages this season about how much of a goal threat Mikel Arteta’s side has, those worries have surely been eased now after some stunning recent performances.
The Gunners have recently enjoyed huge away wins against West Ham United, Burnley and Sheffield United, and it’s hard to see someone like Zirkzee necessarily coming in and being an automatic starter.

Zirkzee may end up having other suitors at some point, though, as he’s clearly someone who looks too good to carry on at Bologna, even if it might be that he’ll start off with something of a stepping stone club before perhaps earning a deal with one of Europe’s elite sides.
