Kieran Trippier injury update after calf scan on Monday

Newcastle United are hopeful Kieran Trippier will be fit to face Chelsea next Monday following a minor calf injury.

It’s believed a scan on Monday showed no serious damage after the right-back was forced off in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Wolves at St James’ Park.

Trippier has revealed that his calf is “feeling good”, suggesting he won’t be missing for long if next week’s trip to Stamdord Bridge does come too soon for the 33-year-old.

After being named FWA North East Footballer of the Year on Sunday, Trippier said: “I just felt something in my calf and I don’t want to take any risks or anything.

“I had a good chat with the manager but I won’t know anything until [Monday]. My calf is feeling good but you know scan results can say anything, but most importantly I’m feeling positive.”

With Joe Willock, Harvey Barnes, Alexander Isak and Elliot Anderson fit again, it finally feels like our injury woes are starting to ease, especially now there’s hope Joelinton and Nick Pope will play again this season following surgery.
