Girona manager Michel has said that Oriol Romeu would be the one Barcelona player he would love to have in his team.
Romeu moved to Barcelona over the previous summer as part of Blaugrana’s desperate attempt to sign a midfielder. The 32-year-old former La Masia player was bought to be a direct replacement for Sergio Busquets but things haven’t gone as planned.
Despite this, though, Michel says that if he had to choose one player from the current Barcelona roster, he would pick his former midfielder.
“If I took one…It would be Oriol Romeu because I know that he is a good person and he is a top player. I don’t know what’s happening to him because I’m not there,” the Girona manager said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
Interestingly enough, Romeu isn’t the only Barcelona player he picked. Upon being asked to best players in each position, the Girona manager commented:
“The best goalkeeper in the world, according to my idea of the game, would be Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

“In defence, I would stay with Virgil van Dijk, with Kevin De Bruyne in the midfield and Kylian Mbappe in attack, because I think he is the player who, individually, can solve the most situations with skill and decide the game,” he said.
Romeu’s move a failure?
Over the course of the season, Romeu has slowly lost his place within the team, but the midfielder has vouched to give his all for Xavi until the end of the season.
While the 32-year-old started the season with a bang, delivering consistent performances, his deliveries have taken a hit.
As the season went on, he didn’t play as much, and in the last seven matches, he has only played as a substitute.
In fact, in the last 10 games he played, he only started once which was a low-intensity Copa del Rey clash.
Judging by the look of things, it is safe to say that Xavi’s trust in the midfielder has slowly diminished, but…
