Tyler Adams named to Bournemouth squad for first time since October

Tyler Adams did not feature in Bournemouth’s comeback draw with Sheffield United on Saturday, but his return to the sidelines was a huge positive nonetheless.

Adams dressed in Andoni Iraola’s squad for the first time since re-aggravating his hamstring injury last October. The 25-year-old midfielder was an unused substitute during the Cherries’ 2-2 Premier League draw at the Vitality Stadium.

Adams featured for Bournemouth’s developmental squad last Tuesday in a 5-0 win over Colchester United. The U.S. men’s national team captain had missed the last five months due to his second hamstring injury in the past year.

Iraola remains pleased with Adams’ return to the group, but might not risk him just yet.

“Personally it may be a good thing but he’s continuing his process and still lacks more training. But he’s doing well,” he said prematch on Friday.

Bournemouth faces Luton Town on March 13 before a trip to Wolves on March 16 in league play. The Cherries will then have a short pause due to the March international break.

Adams does remain an option for USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter, should he earn a spot for upcoming CONCACAF Nations League involvement.
