Journalist claims 15-20 clubs wanted to sign Arsenal star in January

Arsenal star Jakub Kiwior made just four league starts throughout the first half of this season, mostly playing as a substitute.

Due to the defender’s situation at the North London club, other teams reached out to sign him on a loan deal in the winter transfer window.

At least that’s what Polish journalist Piotr Koźmiński is stating, and Transfery Info has confirmed what he said to Canal+ Sport regarding the Arsenal player.

Arsenal star was in high demand

According to Koźmiński, Kiwior was coveted by perhaps 15-20 clubs in Spain and Italy, but the Gunners refused to allow him leave, therefore their attempts to sign him were fruitless.

“As far as I can tell, he had about 15, maybe even 20 loan opportunities. It was all about Spain or Italy. There were so many inquiries for him. From the very beginning Arsenal didn’t agree to it and we can see now that it worked out for him,” he said.

The journalist has not provided information on any of the teams who contacted the 24-year-old in January in an attempt to recruit him.

According to reports from Italy, in January, AC Milan and Napoli expressed interest in signing the Poland international.

Kiwior has been brilliant for Arsenal

The defender has made eight appearances (seven starts) since the previous transfer window, tallying three assists and one goal.

Following Oleksandr Zinchenko’s injury, Mikel Arteta has been using the Pole as a left-back, and Kiwior has kept his spot even after the Ukrainian has fully recovered.

The defender was flawless in Arsenal’s Champions League win against Porto this week, as he helped the Gunners to qualify to the next round.
