Liverpool fan banned for years after throwing bottle at Man United bus

Liverpool fan banned for years after throwing bottle at Man United bus

A Liverpool fan has been banned from football for three years and hit with a community order after he launched a glass bottle at Manchester United’s team bus as it made its way to Anfield back in December.

The Reds drew 0-0 with the Manchester club on December 17 and the incident occurred in the build-up to this fixture.

For big games, Liverpool fans line Anfield Road as both buses make their way to the Merseyside club’s historic stadium. During this event in December, a 23-year-old man hurled a cider bottle at the Man United vehicle which was carrying Erik ten Hag and his players.

According to the Daily Mail, the Liverpool fan has now been convicted of causing criminal damage, and has been given a three-year football banning order and ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work. He was also told to pay a £500 compensation order and costs.

Merseyside Police could stop Liverpool bus welcomes

This incident may have ruined Liverpool bus welcomes for the near future as there was none ahead of the Reds’ huge clash with Man City at the weekend.

Thousands of fans lined the roads around Anfield to support their team on Sunday but both vehicles entered the stadiums using a different route.

Merseyside Police launched a large-scale operation around Man City’s visit to Anfield at the weekend to prevent any antisocial behaviour and they achieved their goal.

It would be a shame to deprive Liverpool and football fans of events like this going forward as a result of a few bad eggs, but if it needs to be done to protect people, then so be it.
