The alarm bells in Catalonia rang just under two months ago when Xavi announced that he would not continue as the manager of FC Barcelona beyond this season.
After all, his announcement came out of the blue at a point where his continuity was almost seen as a guarantee.
Joan Laporta & co. immediately began their hunt for a replacement with Roberto De Zerbi, Thomas Tuchel, Julian Nagelsmann, Hansi Flick, and Jurgen Klopp amongst the candidates considered.
Despite the initial chaos, talks of a new manager have gone queerly silent in recent days, opening reason to consider if Xavi could stay beyond this season.
The legend’s decision
The Barcelona coach does not go one press conference without being asked about his future, especially given the team’s purple patch since his announcement.
All factors considered, Xavi is still adamant that he will leave the club and that he has not changed his mind.
COPE, however, brings to light that the situation is far from as clear. No one in the club is ruling out the possibility of Xavi staying for next season, with the club legend’s continuity very much on the table.

After all, Xavi is Laporta’s favoured candidate to stay at the helm of the club and the president is even planning on holding talks and convincing the legend to reconsider his decision.
Three conditions
As revealed earlier this week, three conditions must be met for Xavi to even re-think his decision.
For starters, the team’s performance must not dip and the purple patch must roll on until the end of the season. With a place in the UCL final suddenly not appearing so far, there is room for the team to impress the manager.
Secondly, he will require the board to submit an open and official request asking him to continue.
Third, and not least, Xavi requires assurance that the club will be able to sign the players required for next season’s project.
