Nottingham Forest’s breach of financial rules could aid Newcastle United’s pursuit of Morgan Gibbs-White this summer.
It was revealed back in January that the 24-year-old had been watched ‘extensively’ by Toon scouts and earned extra brownie points for his man of the match display in Forest’s 3-1 win at St James’ Park on Boxing Day.
Our own FFP limitations meant a winter move was not possible, especially when Miguel Almiron resisted a potential move to Saudi Arabia, but the former England U21 star remains firmly on our radar heading into the summer window.
The Times have revealed that Nottingham Forest must make at least £30m profit before the end of June to avoid another points deduction for the 2024/25 season, meaning a high-profile player sale could be imminent.
The attacking midfielder is also represented by CAA Stellar; an agency that have a strong relationship with Newcastle, representing the likes of Nick Pope and Elliot Anderson, along with former Mags Javier Manquillo and Jonjo Shelvey.
Gibbs-White has huge admirers on Tyneside and Newcastle failed to add that creative spark last summer, with James Maddison joining Spurs instead. His versatility, potential and Premier League experience will be valued by Howe, making this an early one to watch heading into the summer transfer window now Forest have been forced to raise cash quickly.
