Bayern Munich reignite summer interest in €100 million-rated Barcelona captain

Barcelona will enter the 2024 summer transfer market hoping that they do not have to sell any of their prized assets to reinforce the rest of the team.

They have, in theory, decided that losing their spine is not worth it, with Joan Laporta confirming that Barça have already received and rejected offers for several key players.

Of those is definitely Ronald Araujo, who has attracted a lot of interest from the Premier League, but even more so from Bayern Munich.

Their current coach Thomas Tuchel fed the idea of signing the Uruguayan to the Bavarians, and they tried pursuing the player in the 2024 winter transfer market, as well, to no avail.

Bayern still interested

There were reports recently that claimed that Bayern had withdrawn their interest in Araujo due to the costs of the operation. They would have to let go of one of Dayot Upamecano, Matthijs de Ligt, or Min-jae Kim for a high price to afford Araujo.

However, an update from SPORT claims that Bayern are still keen on signing Araujo, even though Tuchel is set to leave the club at the end of the season.

They are presumably ready to pay big money for his signature, as well, with reports claiming they have already informed Barcelona about a hypothetical €100 million offer.

Araujo wants to stay

Fortunately for Barcelona, Araujo is not considering a departure from the club. He wants to continue wearing the garnet and blue, and has confirmed the same in interviews over the course of the last month.

The Catalans are ready to make an effort to convince him about his importance, too, with a new contract expected to be tabled within the next few months.

Club president Joan Laporta and director Deco believe that Araujo is a player that is ‘made for Barcelona’, even though he did come through La Masia like some of the other youngsters.

He is already one of the four captains of the club, and could very well hold the armband permanently within the next couple of years.
