Barcelona expect to receive double injury boost this week ahead of PSG clash

Barcelona expect to receive double injury boost this week ahead of PSG clash

Following the narrow 1-0 win over UD Las Palmas on Saturday night, FC Barcelona will now go without a game for ten days before the big game against PSG in the UEFA Champions League.

The first leg of the quarterfinals between the two European behemoths will be played on April 9, away at Parc des Princes.

The Copa del Rey final this weekend means there are no La Liga matches, providing Barcelona with ample time to prepare for the big game in Paris.

Barcelona expecting two big boosts

Leading up to the game, Barcelona are expecting to receive a double boost on the injury front, reports RAC1.

Indeed, Barça expect the key midfield duo of Frenkie de Jong and Pedri to return to group training this week, which would enable them to be ready for the trip to France next week.

The Dutchman’s recovery has been progressing well and is meeting expected deadlines as a result of which his availability against PSG is a solid possibility.

As far as Pedri, there have been conflicting reports regarding his situation, with some outlets suggesting he could miss the first leg against PSG.

But the latest update states that Barcelona expect him to resume group training this week, putting him on track to be ready for the blockbuster clash against Luis Enrique’s men.

Only two absentees

With Ferran Torres and Marcos Alonso also returning from injuries recently and Andreas Christensen, Pedri and De Jong expected to be back, Barcelona will likely be without just two players against PSG.

Gavi and Alejandro Balde, ruled out for the season, will be the only two absentees for the Blaugrana in Paris should Pedri and De Jong make a comeback as expected.
