Star Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal has said that it would be a moment of pride for him to wear the iconic number 10 shirt next season at the new Camp Nou on the club’s 125th anniversary.
Speaking in an interview with Mundo Deportivo, the young attacker talked about fulfilling his ambitions at Barcelona, saying that it makes him very happy that his work is being recognized.
A few weeks back, we reported that Yamal could be given the responsibility to don the #10 shirt from next season. Right now, the number belongs to Ansu Fati and while speaking about it, the 16-year-old said,
“It is Ansu’s number 10 but if in the end, he is not still here, it would be a source of pride.
“It would be a dream for any child to be Barça’s number 10. Nobody in this world would say no, but it is something that the club must manage,” he added.

It is no secret that Yamal, once he turns 18, will commit his future to the team. In fact, as reported before, the youngster has a pact with the team that states that next year, he will sign a five-year contract with a penalty clause of €1 billion.
When asked if he wants to be remembered like Carles Puyol and Xavi himself, he said, “Sure. I hope I can be a Barça legend.”
“What a peace of mind, there are still two years left for the next contract. And to enjoy above all.”
Given his talent and his performances this season, many top clubs have expressed interest in the player and speaking in this context, he added, “It makes me very happy that my work and my football is recognized but I am focused on the next game.”
