According to TalkSport, Liverpool are braced for an offer of more than £70 million for Mohamed Salah this summer, expected to come from Al-Ittihad as they seek to convince Karim Benzema not to abandon their project. Al-Hilal, in a similar situation with Neymar, are also credited with interest in taking the Egyptian winger to Saudi Arabia.
Last summer, Liverpool strongly resisted an offer of £150 million from Al-Ittihad, but with Salah now close to entering the final year of his contract and close to turning 32, his market value has obviously lessened.
Meanwhile, Salah is still doing extremely well in a Liverpool shirt. With 17 goals in the Premier League this season, only Manchester City’s Erling Haaland (19) and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins (18) have done better in the English top flight. In all competitions, Salah has 36 goal involvements (23 goals and 13 assists) in 35 appearances, having missed a total of 12 matches through injury or international duty.
While keen on getting the Salah transfer done quickly, Al-Ittihad haven’t made their move yet as they wish to avoid spoiling their good relationship with Liverpool, aware that creating headlines to possibly overshadow the final months of Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield dugout would be in poor taste.
