Tuesday night continued what has been a familiar trend for American forward Josh Sargent.
Sargent scored his 15th EFL Championship goal of the season as Norwich City tied Sheffield Wednesday 2-2 at Hillsborough. His latest goalscoring performance helped the Canaries to one point on the road despite David Wagner’s men watching a two-goal advantage slip away.
The U.S. men’s national team forward needed only 11 minutes to break the deadlock in Sheffield, slotting home Ashley Barnes’ headed pass for a 1-0 lead. It marked Sargent’s 12th goal of 2024 following a lengthy spell on the sidelines during the first half of the season.
Borja Sainz doubled Norwich City’s lead only five minutes later, but Sheffield Wednesday rallied back after halftime.
Michael Ihiekwe and Michael Smith both scored seven minutes apart as the Owls earned a crucial point in their fight for league survival.
Sixth place Norwich sits five points clear of Coventry City heading into its final four matches of the season.
Sargent and Co. will visit Preston North End on Saturday in a top-eight clash.
