Newcastle ready to sell £20m man as Toon eye PSV star and Premier League duo – Report

According to Mark Douglas at the i, Miguel Almiron is on course to leave Newcastle United this summer as the club plan for a busy summer in the transfer market.

He reports that the Paraguayan opted against a January move to Saudi Arabia after serious interest from Al-Shabab, but that exit route is expected to open up once again, with player trading key in our bid to work within PSR and FFP rules.

As for incomings, Douglas then reveals that club scouts have been watching PSV Eindhoven midfielder Joey Veerman. The 25-year-old Dutch international plays as a creative number six and has delivered 14 assists this season.

Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo and Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly are also mentioned as two Premier League centre-backs on our radar. The out-of-contract duo will be available on free agents at the end of the season, although their wage demands could complicate matters due to the lack of transfer fee.

It’s believed that the signing of a central defender is now one of our ‘top priorities’ this summer after long-term ACL injuries to Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles. That mixed in with our ongoing battle with PSR/FFP makes both Tosin and Kelly attractive options, as the pair are potential bargains with Premier League experience.

They are receiving plenty of interest from elsewhere, but Howe is hopeful his relationship with Kelly – who he brought to Bournemouth five years ago – could swing that deal in our favour.
