Frenkie de Jong has been a hot topic at Barcelona as they prepare for the high-octane battle with Paris Saint-Germain later tonight.
The Dutchman has almost completed his recovery and could be in line to feature tonight at Parc des Princes.
Xavi Hernandez is even pushing for a start for the former Ajax star, who is considered a difference-maker and could play a pivotal role in adding more technical efficiency to Barça’s game.
PSG keeping tabs on de Jong
However, as excitement grows over de Jong’s participation tonight, it appears PSG will be taking a closer look at the midfielder.
According to Diario SPORT, the French giants are among the clubs keeping an eye on de Jong’s situation, knowing there is a possibility he could be offloaded in the coming summer.

Barcelona, after all, are going through economic turmoil and would require fresh revenue in order to sign new players.
Keeping that in mind, PSG are open to pouncing on any opportunity to sign de Jong in the coming summer. In fact, the report adds that the second leg is going to be crucial, as far as PSG’s pursuit of the Dutchman is concerned, as the player is likely to start in that game.
Another fabricated report?
This is not the first time PSG are being linked with a move for a Barcelona midfielder ahead of the blockbuster encounter.
Earlier this week, the French champions were linked with a move for Gavi. But Fabrizio Romano has trashed those rumours recently.
Now, PSG are being linked with a move for de Jong. The report, however, is coming straight from the Spanish media.
As such, there may be some truth to PSG’s interest in de Jong. However, the French giants are not actively pursuing the Dutchman and would only look into the matter if Barcelona are willing to sell the midfielder at the end of the season.
