Lamine Yamal’s father sends a message after controversial comment made by pundit

Barcelona’s 3-2 win over Paris Saint-Germain is seen as no less than a festival in Catalonia, for it marks the team’s first big success in Europe in over four years.

Barring the first 15 minutes of the second half, Barcelona were close to flawless on the night. Defensively, they cut Kylian Mbappe off from the game while in attack, the Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha shone under pressure.

La Masia’s prodigal son Lamine Yamal started the game for the Azulgranas on the night and was far from his best at Parc des Princes.

However, there was a certain incident during the game’s broadcast about the youngster that did not go down well in Catalonia and stood as a black mark on the special night.

A distasteful comment

The incident in question occurred on Movistar’s pre-match broadcast with former goalkeeper Mono Burgos making a disgraceful comment about the Barcelona teen sensation.

“If he doesn’t do well he could end up in a traffic light,” he said on air.

As a result of the same, both Barcelona and PSG players refused to do post-match interviews with the Spanish outlet, but it is clear that the statement deserves a larger punishment.

Now, Yamal’s father Mounir Nasraoui has come out on his Instagram demanding justice for the statement against his son and asking for more sensitivity on the topic.

“Good morning world, I just ask you to respect other people’s children. Thanks,” his post read.

It remains to be seen if Barcelona actively pursues the case to ensure that action is taken against the parties involved. In either case, it will be critical to ensure that Yamal is not affected by the circulating news.

In light of the uproar on social media and the obvious error in the former goalkeeper’s statement, both Movistar and Burgos have come out and openly apologised for the same.
