What Barcelona must do to qualify for FIFA Club World Cup 2025 after beating PSG

Having returned to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in four years, Barcelona marked the occasion with a crucial 3-2 win over PSG at Parc des Princes.

The victory puts Xavi Hernandez’s side in the driving seat heading into the second leg of the quarterfinal tie at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys next week.

It has been a spectacular turnaround for Barça in the past couple of months considering they were already being counted out of the competition not very long ago.

The victory also means that the Catalans’ hopes of qualifying for the FIFA Club World Cup in 2025 still remain alive, although the road will be difficult.

What Barcelona need to make it to the Club World Cup

Now, a report from Mundo Deportivo has outlined what Barcelona need to do in order to qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup next year, which will be the first edition of the tournament in its newest format.

By winning the Champions League, Chelsea (2021), Real Madrid (2022) and Manchester City (2023) have already qualified for the Club World Cup.

On top of that, seven other teams have also sealed their places in the form of Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Inter, Juventus, PSG, Porto and Benfica.

It leaves just two of the 12 spots available for European clubs in the competition, with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid vying for one of the places.

Every win gives two points, a draw gives one and a place in the next round gives one as well.

With the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals over, Barça and Atletico remain in contention for a place in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. With 67 points, Los Rojiblancos are six ahead of Los Azulgranas, who have 61 points.

Barça’s chances now depend on reaching the final by winning all their games and hoping that Borussia Dortmund will come back from behind against Atletico Madrid.
