Newcastle vs Tottenham Prediction: Team to Win

The first Premier League game of this weekend takes place at St. James’ Park as Newcastle host Tottenham.

Newcastle qualified for the Champions League last season but they have struggled to maintain that kind of form in 2023/24 as they are currently down in eighth, though they do still have hopes of qualifying for the Europa League.

Spurs, meanwhile, are poised to return to the Champions League under Ange Postecoglou as they are currently placed fourth.

Current Form

Newcastle Current Form

Newcastle have recovered well from two straight defeats against Chelsea in the Premier League and Man City in the FA Cup to go three unbeaten unbeaten in the league.

They have won two of their last three and most recently defeated Fulham 1-0 away thanks to a goal from Bruno Bruno Guimaraes.

Tottenham Current Form

It can be tough to predict exactly what you’ll get from Spurs with every passing game as they were recently humbled 3-0 away at London rivals Fulham, only to go three unbeaten with two wins against Nottingham Forest and Luton and a draw versus West Ham.

Prior to that Fulham game, they impressively beat Aston Villa 4-0 away.

They have lost just one of their last six in the Premier League, though, so the points they have consistently picked up whether it be via wins or draws have helped them stay in the top four.

..

Newcastle’s injury crisis has been well-documented this season, and it has just gotten worse as Joe Willock has joined Callum Wilson, Joelinton, Nick Pope, Jamaal Lascelles, Sven Botman, Matt Targett, Tino Livramento and Kieran Trippier on the sidelines.

Sandro Tonali remains suspended.

Fraser Forster, Ryan Sessegnon and Manor Solomon are all definite absentees for Spurs, while the fitness of Richarlison will be assessed closer to the game after he missed the Forest win due to a knee problem.

Scoreline Prediction

Despite Newcastle being lower in the league than they would like, this is still a game between two evenly-matched sides, so a scoring draw seems the most likely…
