Report: Barcelona’s economic plan to sign Manchester City heavyweight

In response to their financial challenges, Barcelona are eyeing a strategic approach to secure the transfer of Bernardo Silva, mirroring their previous method used for Vitor Roque, according to reports from Fichajes.

When Barcelona negotiated with Atletico Paranense, they settled on an initial payment of €30 million, with potential increases up to €61 million based on specific conditions. 

Remarkably, even for the initial sum of €30 million, Barcelona opted to divide payments into instalments of €5 million every six months.

As it turns out, the Catalan club intends to employ a similar tactic in their pursuit of the Portuguese Magnifico from Manchester City. 

This approach demonstrates Barcelona’s commitment to navigating their financial constraints while still pursuing quality players for their squad.

Optimism amidst adversities

Despite facing financial challenges, Barcelona are determined to bolster their squad this summer, setting their sights on talented midfielders like Bernardo himself.

However, before sealing the deal, the club needs to improve its financial standing and adhere to the 1/1 rule, allowing it to reinvest all transfer earnings.

For that, club president Joan Laporta is exploring a strategy similar to the one used for Roque’s signing as this approach will enable the club to better manage their finances and allocate costs more efficiently.

What’s the latest with Bernardo?

A few days ago, we reported that Bernardo is attracted by the possibility of joining Barcelona and for that, he is willing to make efforts from his end as well.

However, Barcelona’s pursuit of Silva hinges on their Financial Fair Play standing as last summer, the 29-year-old inked a fresh deal with City, featuring a £50 million release clause.
