The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards has issued an update on Newcastle’s summer transfer plans, naming two cut-price deals that are currently being eyed up.
He reports that we are looking into the possibility of signing Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo and Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly; two players who are set to become available as free agents at the end of the 2023/24 season.
It’s believed both have been scouted extensively and discussed in a recent recruitment meeting, with the club searching for defensive cover following ACL injuries to Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman.
Value for money is also key now those long-term injuries have impacted our transfer plans. We have several other key areas to strengthen but will have a limited budget due to FFP/PSR rules, making free agent moves for Adarabioyo and Kelly particularly appealing.
Adarabioyo, 26, operates as a right-sided centre-back for Fulham and possesses the sort of pace we’ve sometimes lacked in defence, while Kelly – signed by Howe in 2019 – can operate as a left-sided centre-back and at left-back.
