There’s a mouthwatering Champions League tie on Wednesday as Manchester City host Real Madrid in the quarter-final second leg at the Etihad.
The first leg emerged as one of the best games of the season so far, as the two European giants played out a dramatic 3-3 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu.
With so much on the line in the second leg, here is how the Man City and Real Madrid squads are shaping up.
Man City Team News
Man City have been boosted by major players being passed fit ahead of this game.
Kevin De Bruyne missed the first leg due to illness but returned to the squad for the Luton game, while Phil Foden is okay after being subbed in the first leg due to a late knock.
Kyle Walker and Nathan Ake have been out for a while, but both returned to the squad for the Luton game. With Vinicius Junior to contend with on the left wing, it’s possible Walker might receive a recall to the starting XI.
John Stones missed the Luton game due to a niggle, but it’s nothing serious which means Pep Guardiola should have a full squad at his disposal on Wednesday.
Foden lit up the first leg with an outstanding performance and an outstanding goal ripped into the top corner from the edge of the box. After not seeing action at the weekend, he’ll be raring to go.
Real Madrid Team News
Thibaut Courtois and David Alaba are long-term absentees for Real Madrid due to serious knee injuries, but Eder Militao is progressing to full fitness after suffering a similar injury. He has made his return to the field, but he probably won’t be risked from the start here.
Aurélien Tchouameni has strangely been named in the Real Madrid squad despite being suspended.
Vinicius Junior recorded two assists in the first leg and was arguably the best player on the pitch.
Man City (4-3-3): Ederson; Walker, Dias, Stones, Gvardiol; Silva, Rodri, De Bruyne; Foden, Grealish, Haaland.
Real Madrid (4-3-1-2): Lunin; Carvajal, Nacho, Rudiger, Mendy; Valverde, Camavinga, Kroos; Bellingham; Rodrygo, Vinicius Jr.
