Barcelona are gearing up for a difficult summer ahead. The club are in desperate need of reinforcements, but their hands are virtually tied in the market due to the ongoing economic downturn.
Barcelona have kickstarted their preparations for the season ahead, with Dani Olmo emerging as one of the club’s top targets. However, the club face a rather precarious situation as far as the pursuit of the RB Leipzig starlet is concerned.
Barcelona’s plan with Dani Olmo
A recent report from Diario SPORT has highlighted Barcelona’s uncertain position in the race to sign Dani Olmo.
The report claims that Barça will not go after Olmo this summer unless the club returns to the 1:1 formula, where the club can spend every single penny they earn.
This comes days after Deco had a meeting with Olmo’s father and his representatives, discussing a potential move to Camp Nou this summer.

Barcelona are currently under the 3:1 scheme and therefore, require a massive overhaul this summer, in order to return to the 1:1 rule.
The Catalans are expected to try and sanction the sale of multiple unwanted stars this summer. The likes of Sergino Dest, Ansu Fati and even Frenkie de Jong could be facing the axe.
Even Fermin Lopez was on the list, but it appears Barça have been left impressed by the youngster’s performance and won’t consider his sale this summer.
Olmo wants to play for Barcelona
The report adds that Dani Olmo, for his part, is keen on joining Barcelona. He was formerly a member of the La Masia youth academy and is now ready to return to Camp Nou.
Currently in his prime, Olmo believes a move to Barcelona could be the most logical move in his career, as he looks to establish himself as one of Spain’s top creative players.
