Eddie Howe has issued a “wait and see” message on Yankuba Minteh’s future, believing we must allow the 19-year-old to focus on his football at Feyenoord before deciding on his “next step” this summer.
The winger has enjoyed a superb loan spell with the Dutch giants, not only scoring 10 goals, but featuring in the Champions League and winning his first trophy in Sunday’s cup final.
Howe admits he’s been “keeping a very close eye” on the Gambian, praising his form in the Eredivisie and ability to “attack the challenge” of playing in a new league at such a young age.
Asked about his form and his future in this morning’s press conference, Howe said – “I have been keeping a very close eye on him. That (cup final) would have been a great day for him despite the sending off.
“I think he has done really well and attacked the challenge of going alone, new league, new team-mates and has played in the Champions League. I think he has done really well this year and he can be proud of his efforts.
“I have tended not to communicate, I think you are better of letting the players focus and not give them too many distractions. Let’s wait and see what happens in his next step.”
