Over the past couple of days, there has been a lot of speculation about Xavi Hernandez and his continuity at FC Barcelona.
The former midfielder confirmed way back in January itself that he would be stepping down from his position at the end of the season.
The Barcelona administration has been trying to convince Xavi to stay but the 44-year-old had appeared unwilling to change his mind until now.
Xavi ready to continue
There have been suggestions over the past 48 hours or so that Xavi might now be more open to continuing at Barcelona.
And even though it has been suggested that he has not given any hints to the squad and will not make any announcement until a meeting with the club, Xavi is now ready to continue as Barcelona manager.
This report comes from AS, who state that the 44-year-old Spaniard has finally decided to back from his earlier stance and remain as the head coach of his beloved club.
Xavi has been slipping hints to those closest to him in recent days about his decision to continue and appears to have fully had a change of heart now.
The final decision for Laporta
The decision now passes into the hands of Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, who has publicly shown his unconditional support for Xavi’s continuity.

However, the Barça chief will have to decide whether he wants Xavi to stay after a year without titles.
While there have been tremendous improvements in performance after Xavi’s announcement to step down, the reality is that Barça were ten points behind Real Madrid when he announced his decision; and now they are 11 points behind.
A meeting will take place where all parties will lay out their cards on the table. Xavi, for starters, would have to explain why he has decided to change his mind now.
