Barcelona see the £50 million signing of Man City heavyweight as feasible this summer

Earlier this week, reports emerged claiming that Barcelona were optimistic about returning to the 1:1 rule heading into the summer transfer window.

One of the direct consequences of a return to the 1:1 wage fair play rule is that Barça would be able to sign top-level players without any hassles.

One of the players that Barcelona like the most is Bernardo Silva, with Xavi Hernandez and the club administration both great admirers of the 29-year-old Manchester City maestro.

Barça have been trying to sign Silva for the last two summers, and the Portuguese ace has also been excited about the possibility of wearing the Blaugrana shirt, finally fulfilling his childhood dream.

However, it was impossible due to the club’s wage bill problems.

Silva viable this summer

But, Mundo Deportivo now reports that Barcelona see the signing of Silva as viable heading into this summer’s transfer window.

After a move did not go through last summer, Silva extended his contract with Manchester City until 2026, after seven seasons there, but included in the agreement a termination clause of £50 million, about €58 million.

It is seen as an affordable amount for Barcelona for this summer if they return to the 1:1 rule.

Sources close to Silva admit that, despite having renewed, his approach to life has led him to consider next summer as the ideal time to leave City and the Premier League.

And, it is believed that the 29-year-old Portuguese international is ‘crazy’ about signing for Barcelona, despite there being interest from PSG.

Again, everything would hinge on Barça achieving the 1:1 rule, but there is a strong belief that it will be possible, with the impending Nike deal set to provide the much-needed financial boost.
