Xavi and Deco seek three signings to strengthen Barcelona in the summer – report

A crucial window awaits the Blaugrana, who will be eager to bolster the squad significantly after going trophyless this season.

Now, SPORT reports that, heading into the summer transfer window, Barcelona manager Xavi and director Deco want as many as three new signings for the summer.

As per the report, the Catalans are looking to sign a top pivot midfielder to fill the hole left by Sergio Busquets’ exit last summer as a priority.

Martin Zubimendi and Joshua Kimmich remain Xavi’s preferred options for the position. Other names like Amadou Onana and Aleix Garcia are also on the agenda while a free transfer swoop for Guido Rodriguez is not ruled out either.

Beyond that, Barça are also interested in signing a top attacking midfielder with a great final pass. As far as this position is concerned, Manchester City ace Bernardo Silva remains the main target, with a release clause of £50 million.

Furthermore, Deco and Xavi are also seeking the signing of a left-winger who can add a greater threat and directness from that flank, with the likes of Joao Felix and Raphinha not being naturals on that side.

Several names are under consideration for that position, ranging from Nico Williams of Athletic Club to Napoli speedster Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

It must be noted that all these moves will only come to fruition if Barcelona successfully return to the 1:1 rule in the summer. If not, Xavi and Deco will have some difficulties getting all their intended signings.
