As Barcelona approaches the summer transfer window, an air of intrigue accompanies them.
With rumors swirling about potential signings and high-profile departures, it is expected to be a dramatic transfer window for the Catalan giants.
And one of the players who is sure to be at the forefront of the headlines in the upcoming weeks is Joao Felix. The Portuguese’s loan spell at Barcelona will end this summer, which has cast doubts over his future.
Atletico Madrid open to a swap deal
With Felix and Atletico Madrid’s relationship seemingly reaching a point of no return, the Rojiblancos are eager to part ways with the 24-year-old.
However, according to SPORT, Atletico still aims to recoup its investment in Joao Felix and are thus open to a player swap with Barcelona involving Joao Felix.
It was previously reported that Jorge Mendes was considering Ansu Fati joining Atletico while Joao Felix headed to Barcelona.
Atletico, however, are not a fan of this notion, particularly in light of Ansu Fati’s lackluster performances at Brighton.
Ferran Torres is another player that Atletico have their eyes on, but the Spaniard harbors no desire to leave Barcelona.
Considering Ferran has made many important contributions this season despite minimal playtime, he is unwilling to hit the exit door.
The upcoming weeks will be decisive
Barcelona have benefited from Felix’s talents various times over the course of the campaign. Still, the main concern is whether he will continue to be an important player, particularly as he is not a nailed starter.
Given Felix’s age, the Blaugranes believe he has promise, and the player himself wants to stay but lack of playtime is an area of concern for Felix.
For now, he has no interest in relocating to Saudi Arabia or leagues with less competition. All possibilities are presently being entertained, and a decision regarding the winger’s future will be taken in the upcoming weeks.
