Former Newcastle United man Nolberto Solano has recently been announced as the new manager of non-league side Blyth Spartans.
Solano became an icon in the regions because of his performances in a black and white shirt and will be hoping to have a similar impact from the sidelines at his new club.
This is the first managerial role he’s taken in England after a handful of stints in his native Peru as well as over in Canada and more recently with Swedish third division side AFC Eskilstuna.
Blyth have very recently been relegated from the National League North and will be hoping to bounce straight back up, so Solano certainly already has his work cut out for him.
While the appointment has been met with some mixed reactions, Solano’s arrival will almost definitely help to boost attendances at least in the short term as he makes a return to the North East.
