With Mason Greenwood enjoying a decent campaign on loan at Getafe, the Manchester United forward has been linked with a big move for the summer.
FC Barcelona, for one, have been credited with an interest in the Englishman, while there have been rumours of Atletico Madrid wanting the 22-year-old attacker.
Getafe president confirms Barcelona have asked about Greenwood
Now, speaking in an interview with Radio MARCA, Angel Torres, the president of Getafe, has confirmed that Barcelona president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco have asked him about Mason Greenwood.
“Atletico haven’t asked me, the only one who has asked me was Laporta when he was here. I spoke to him and Deco and they asked me because they like the player,” he said.
It is certainly an intriguing development given that Barça are on the lookout for a new attacking player capable of playing on the left flank.

Even though Greenwood is a centre-forward, the Manchester United academy graduate is more than capable of slotting on both the right and left flanks.
The 22-year-old has produced a return of ten goals and six assists from 32 games in his first season in Spain, showing that he can succeed at this level, even though he had not played competitive football for over a year.
It must be noted that Greenwood’s contract at Manchester United expires in 2025, meaning he could be available for a knockdown price in the summer.
Given that he is unlikely to be welcomed back at Old Trafford, a permanent sale in the summer is very much on the cards.
Whether Barcelona follow up on their initial interest in Greenwood with a formal approach in the weeks to come remains to be seen.
