Son calls for togetherness as Tottenham target positive end to Postecoglou’s first campaign

Heung-Min Son hopes his Tottenham team-mates can rally together and end Ange Postecoglou’s first Premier League season positively.

Spurs lost their fourth consecutive league game at Liverpool on Sunday and are at risk of missing out on Europa League football with a resurgent Chelsea and Newcastle closing in behind them.

Son and Co still have three games left against Burnley, Manchester City and Sheffield United and two wins will guarantee them fifth spot.

The North London club have conceded 13 goals in their last four outings under Postecoglou but they are still on course to have a better campaign than last season, when they finished eighth.

After the defeat at Anfield, Son said: “Look, in a tough moment, it’s a good opportunity to get everyone together.

“We can see everyone at the start of the season when everything was good, everyone was together, everyone was joy, everyone wanted to watch our games.

“This is the first time of the season that we have a big challenge, so we have to face it and we have to get better, stronger and even tighter.”

Son made his 300th appearance for Spurs on Merseyside and marked the occasion with a consolation goal.

The club captain has led the scoring charts for Postecoglou’s men this season, bagging 17 in the Premier League.
