Barcelona inform UEFA that they will use two stadiums for next season – report

The 2023-24 season has not been a memorable one for Barcelona who are now set to go trophy-less across all competitions.

While four games remain in La Liga, the Catalan club’s offices are already focused on the season ahead and the summer transfer window. After all, the hope is not to come back stronger in 2024-25.

One of the most awaited parts of the campaign that lies ahead for Barcelona is the reopening, in part, of the Spotify Camp Nou after over a year-long hiatus.

Status official

According to an update from Carrusel Deportivo, Barcelona have already informed UEFA that they will use two stadiums for next season.

Their campaign will begin at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys at Montjuic, but the renovated Spotify Camp Nou is expected to open in the second half of the campaign.

A deep run in the Champions League, thus, could see Barcelona play the decisive games at their fortress in what would be a massive boost for Xavi’s side.

Date set

As relayed last month, Barcelona have already set a date for the reopening of the new Camp Nou which has been under renovation since 1st June 2023.

The initial plan was to reopen the gates by November 29th, coinciding with the club’s anniversary.

Now however, the date has been pushed to December 15th which is the time when the Catalans have asked La Liga to schedule the first match at the venue.

As it stands, the stadium will open doors for 60% of its 105,000 seating capacity, implying that around 63,000 seats will be accessible.

Montjuic has served Barcelona well as a foster home, but one hopes that a return to the Spotify Camp Nou will have a big impact on the team’s performances as it should.
