Ange Postecoglou claimed the foundations at Tottenham were “really fragile” after failing to mask his anger at the narrative that surrounded his side’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester City last night.
A Spurs win would have handed North London rivals Arsenal the chance to clinch the Premier League title this weekend – a situation that undoubtedly led to a subdued home crowd at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Postecoglou insisted beforehand that his side would be going for a win that would maintain their slim Champions League qualification hopes, and he was clearly irritated that not everyone at the club shared the same desire for the three points.
The Australian said afterwards: “The foundations are really fragile.
“The last 48 hours have shown me that.
“It’s inside the club, outside the club. Outside, inside, everywhere. It’s been an interesting exercise. It’s just my observations.
“I’m the one who’s got to do it. You can make your own assessments of what’s happened.
“I probably misread the situation as to what I think is important in your endeavour to become a winning team, but that’s ok. That’s why I’m here.”

Postecoglou was captured on film arguing with a supporter behind the dugout and, when asked if the lack of spark in the crowd – bar a loud chant of ‘are you watching Arsenal’ after Erling Haaland’s opener, had affected his side, he replied: “Of course it does. It is what it is. I can’t dictate what people do.
“They’re allowed to express themselves any way they want….
