Ten Hag with laughable comments after Newcastle’s 3-2 defeat at Man Utd

Erik ten Hag has bemoaned the amount of “really poor decisions” that went against Man Utd during last night’s 3-2 win over Newcastle United.

Completely ignoring the blatant penalty on Anthony Gordon that was ignored by VAR, the Dutchman feels Jonny Evans was fouled in the build up to Lewis Hall’s goal and claims it “sums up our season” for his side to come out on the wrong side of a refereeing decision. You have to laugh.

Speaking after the game, he said: “It was nervous [at the end] but I thought it was a foul [on Jonny Evans, when Lewis Hall scored] but that sums up our season. We had it so often and we had some really poor decisions go against us. Today, I was pleased we got it over the line.

That wasn’t all, however. Ten Hag then told MUTV that his side were at a big disadvantage as Newcastle played a day earlier than Man Utd last weekend and had more time to prepare. “We were at a disadvantage to Newcastle,” he said. “They (Newcastle) played on Saturday. We played in a tough game on Sunday against the number two of the ranking so we were in a real disadvantage, but the lads did very good.”

We have ourselves to blame last night. VAR howler aside, we missed too many big chances and gifted Man Utd three goals at the other end. Do that and you won’t win many football matches, but it really is laughable for ten Hag to pipe up about refereeing decisions on a night where we were denied a stonewall penalty at a crucial stage of the game. Even when he wins he moans.
