These Are the Two Real Madrid Players Who Have Already Won a Champions League at Wembley

 

Real Madrid face Borussia Dortmund in the final of the UEFA Champions League on Saturday, 1st June 2024. 

It will see Wembley Stadium host for the first time since 2013 when fellow German side Bayern Munich won against a familiar rival.

That final was between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, the first all-Germany Champions League final. 

Fast forward 11 years and Dortmund is back and ready to this time head back to Germany with the trophy.

However for two players, this is not their first rodeo not only playing in a Champions League final at Wembley, but winning, too!

Madrid’s Toni Kroos and David Alaba featured in the 2013 final for Munich where they lifted the trophy against the same opponents.

Could the duo do the Champions League double over Dortmund with two different clubs? 

Real Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund: Previous European Final Meetings

Real Madrid have been involved in an incredible 17 Champions League final appearances to date. 

Soon to make that 18,  the Spanish side have won 14 out of the 17 and will be looking to stretch their run further against Dortmund next month. 

Most recently, the La Liga side beat Liverpool 1-0 in the 2022 final, in which Vinícius Júnior scored the only goal that went on to be the winner.

The two sides, despite Madrid’s domination, have yet to come up against each other in the final of the competition. 

Dortmund has made two appearances in the tournament’s final, the first in 1997, when they triumphed 3-1 over Juventus. 

The second was of course the 2013 final where they lost 2-1 against Bayern.
