Barcelona holding internal talks over Xavi’s future as tense situation persists

It is never a quiet day at FC Barcelona. Just when it seemed like Xavi would be continuing as manager for another year, his continuity has been thrown up into the air.

Reports earlier today insisted that Joan Laporta is angry with some of the comments made by the manager and has decided to part ways with the club legend at the end of the season.

Internal discussions underway

Now, Fabrizio Romano has come forward with an update on the situation of Xavi at Barcelona.

As per the transfer expert, Barcelona are currently holding internal talks to address the continuity of the former midfielder as manager.

The report adds that there is a tense atmosphere at the club, with president Laporta far from happy with Xavi’s words before the game against Almeria earlier in the week.

The manager’s statements about the club’s economic situation as well as Vitor Roque’s game-time have not gone down too well with the higher-ups at the Catalan outfit.

A final decision is yet to be made, but all signs point towards Xavi moving on in less than a month.

Furthermore, the idea of Barcelona Atletic manager Rafa Marquez replacing Xavi as the first-team head coach is gaining strength at the club.

A number of officials at the club, including director Deco, are in favour of that idea. It now remains to be seen how things pan out in the days to come.
