There is a developing situation emerging out of Barcelona, especially after the club’s 2-0 win over Almeria.
Following Xavi Hernandez’s brutally honest statement about the club’s finances, it appears the Barça hierarchy are displeased with the Spaniard and are even considering the possibility of sacking him.
President Joan Laporta, in particular, is angry with Xavi and there might be a chance his contract could be revoked, just weeks after all the parties decided to continue the Spaniard’s spell at the club.
Xavi confused by the situation
Diario AS journalist Javi Miguel has revealed that Xavi, for his part, has been left confused by this evolving situation in Barcelona.
“I don’t know anything” is the sentence Xavi spoke after he was asked to address rumours of his potential departure from Catalonia this summer.

Miguel adds that Xavi is quite surprised by this evolving situation, especially considering the fact that Laporta had congratulated Xavi for the victory over Almeria, the last time these two spoke to each other.
An important meeting to decide it all
It is no secret that Laporta is still crossed with Xavi over his public comments about the club’s finances.
But the Barcelona president does not want to make any rash decisions and will hold an important meeting, where Xavi will be asked about his trust in the project.
Xavi, for his part, wants to discuss with Laporta as well, perhaps to clear the air between the two. This upcoming meeting, therefore, could prove to be quite crucial.
It must be noted that sacking Xavi will not be an easy proposition for Barcelona, especially considering the economic implications involved. Keeping that in mind, it will be interesting to see how things pan out in the coming hours.
