According to The Telegraph, Wolves have told Newcastle and Man City they’ll have fork out £60m if they plan to sign Pedro Neto this summer.
It’s believed the Portuguese international is on our list of right-wing targets, but the report reveals that Toon chiefs do hold some concerns about his injury record this season.
There’s no doubting Neto’s electric pace, incredible dribbling and ability to make something from nothing, highlighted by his 11 assists in 24 appearances over the 2023/24 season. However, he missed two huge chunks of the campaign due to hamstring injuries.
Given the number of injuries suffered on Tyneside this term and the intensity Eddie Howe demands, it is a concern; especially when the 21-year-old will not come cheap.
The Telegraph insist Wolves are under no pressure to sell to Newcastle or Man City as they balanced the books last summer by offloading the likes of Matheus Nunes, Ruben Neves, Raúl Jiménez, Nathan Collins and Conor Coady. That said, £60m would allow Gary O’Neil to reshape his squad, meaning a bid in that region would be seriously considered.
A fit Neto could be such an exciting addition to our free-scoring attack, but is he worth the risk?
