I’d understand if Pochettino does decide to quit Chelsea – Talk Chelsea

There’s been some rumours around today suggesting that Mauricio Pochettino could quit his role as Chelsea head coach this week.

As you will know, there are some reviews and meetings taking place this week, with Pochettino’s future unclear. Chelsea could pull the plug, but Pochettino could also walk apparently. And to be honest, I’d completely understand if he did.

He will reportedly consider quitting Chelsea if he is not given a greater say in the club’s transfer policy.

Many think this is too much, but I think he has a right to ask for more power. Not ALL the power, far from it, but certainly more power.

I reported on my own Substack site earlier today in a sourced article that Pochettino wants more say in recruitment – outgoings and arrivals.

Pochettino ideally wants to stay, but it’s not as cut and dry as that. On Chelsea’s side there is still a split, and as of yesterday morning I was told it was pretty much 50/50 on keeping Pochettino. Some sources have suggested it is now leaning towards him going, but it might not all be on Chelsea’s side.

Pochettino wants more of a say on transfer decisions, as I reported a long time ago and others have also been reporting recently. He is looking for reassurances that he will get more of what he wants in his squad.

He doesn’t want Conor Gallagher or Trevoh Chalobah to be sold and sees them as key players. He wants a new fully fit starting left back. He wants an experienced centre back to replace Thiago Silva. And he wants a new striker. Proven Premier League players is a regular theme as to what Pochettino wants in new players coming in.

Personally I think if you are a head coach of a team and you feel you need a certain profile or a player to make your setup work or to replace a certain profile that you already had in your team, then you have every right to ask for it. I also think that if the club you work for are planning to sell key players who you have pretty much picked in your team at every…
