Barcelona receive boost as PSG lean towards loan exit for 21-year-old sensation

PSG sensation Xavi Simons has excelled during his loan spell at RB Leipzig this season, leading to widespread interest in his services from top clubs in Europe.

FC Barcelona are one of the teams showing a keen interest in signing Simons, although given the financial situation, the Catalans can only afford a loan deal.

Only earlier today, we reported that Simons is also on the radars of clubs like Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Manchester United, but wants to play for the Blaugrana.

PSG could opt for loan exit for Simons

It has been previously suggested that PSG would prefer to permanently sell Simons in the summer and were in fact in talks with RB Leipzig over a transfer.

But, now, a fresh update from Le Parisien (h/t Le10Sport) suggests otherwise.

As per the French publication, PSG do not intend to offload the 21-year-old sensation permanently in the summer due to a special clause in the agreement with his former club.

If Les Parisiens were to sell Simons this summer, they would owe a large chunk of the transfer fee to PSV Eindhoven, from where they re-signed the Dutchman last year.

This clause in the agreement is prohibiting PSG from going ahead with an outright sale of Simons, and as such, they could prefer a loan deal instead.

This development comes as a major boost for Barcelona, who are looking to sign the young sensation on a loan deal only.

As mentioned earlier, Simons himself is eager to join Barça, his boyhood club, and his say is likely to carry a lot of weight in his next destination.
