Some promising transfer news has emerged this morning, as it looks like Newcastle United are all set to sign Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo and Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly on free transfers.
The Mail’s Craig Hope reports that we’ve made significant progress on a deal for Adarabioyo this week, who is expected to finalise a move (from London) over the coming days, barring any late hitches.
Fabrizio Romano also reports that moves to sign both Adarabioyo and Kelly are ‘almost there’, revealing that both deals have reached an advanced stage.
The pair look set to arrive on free transfers, having turned down the chance to extend their contract with their current clubs.
It would represent a superb start to the window, bringing in two low-cost defenders with potential to improve and fill in for the absent Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman; two players set to miss a chunk of the 2024/25 campaign after ACL surgery.
Signing the pair on free transfers will also release funds to strengthen elsewhere, with the bulk of our summer budget likely to be spent on a right-winger, goalkeeper and striker.
