Where Pochettino, De Zerbi, McKenna could end up

The managerial merry-go-round is in full swing with a host of bosses making moves this summer.

Four Premier League managers left their clubs after Sunday’s final day, while plenty of other vacancies could yet become available.

We look at the managers set for pastures new during the off-season.

Mauricio Pochettino

Pochettino surprisingly left Chelsea my mutal consent on Tuesday despite leading his young side to a sixth-placed finish.

The Argentine remains highly rated after overseeing an impressive season at Stamford Bridge and will have plenty of suitors if he wants to jump straight back into a job.

He was considered by Manchester United prior to Erik ten Hag’s appointment two years ago and will surely be on the shortlist as doubts remain over the Dutch manager’s position.

Elsewhere, his name has now cropped up in Bayern Munich’s search, while regular links to Barcelona remain with Xavi expected to depart.

Roberto De Zerbi

De Zerbi bid farewell to Brighton on Sunday after a year and a half on the South Coast is another whose stock is high.

The Italian led the Seagulls to a record sixth in his first season, before ending the 2023-24 campaign in 11th while grappling with a maiden European campaign which saw them reach the Europa League quarter-finals.

Chelsea’s tendency to pinch stars from Brighton has seen him strongly linked with the Blues but is also reportedly being considered by both Man Utd and Bayern Munich.

A return to Italy with Juventus or AC Milan could also happen, though he has spoken of his desire for another Premier League job.

Kieran McKenna

For the first time since 2001-02, Ipswich Town are a Premier League side once again and that is thanks to the miracles worked by McKenna since arriving in December 2021.

Leading the Tractor Boys to back-to-back promotions from League One, the former United coach is rightly seen as England’s most exciting young coach and appearas destined for the top.
