Barcelona confirmed earlier today that Xavi Hernandez will no longer be the manager after the end of the season.
The 44-year-old will oversee his final game as the first-team head coach of Barça on Sunday when they take on Sevilla away at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
The way Joan Laporta & co. have handled the situation has been far from ideal, first convincing Xavi to stay when he had announced his decision to leave only to then sack him over some of his words in a press conference.
And now, Sevilla manager Quique Sanchez Flores has hit out at Barcelona for the way they have handled the situation with Xavi, claiming that the Catalans do not know how to treat their legends, citing examples of Ronald Koeman and Leo Messi.
“I shouldn’t say this, but how badly Barcelona treat their legends. What a bad run… with Koeman, with Messi, with Xavi now. I wish clubs valued their legends,” Flores said.

Praising the job that Xavi has done at Barça, the Sevilla coach added: “Xavi is a coach who has felt a lot about the club. He has experienced a lot of things as a player and has done a good job as a coach.
“I’ll give him a big hug, we’ll talk. We have a lot of communication.”
Xavi will now be in charge of the Barcelona senior team for one last time this Sunday against Quique Sanchez Flores’ Sevilla on Sunday.
The game has no particular consequences for the Blaugrana as they sealed the second-place finish by defeating Rayo Vallecano 2-0 last weekend.
Xavi, though, will hope that he can sign off on his managerial stint with his beloved club on a high with a solid win.
