Laporta consulted three Barcelona stars before greenlighting Hansi Flick appointment

With each passing hour, the appointment of Hansi Flick as the new manager of FC Barcelona is getting closer and closer.

The 59-year-old German tactician is already understood to have agreed a contract with the Catalans with only the official announcement pending once Xavi’s removal is sorted out.

In fact, Barcelona president Joan Laporta is set to meet Xavi in a while and could inform him of his sacking.

Meanwhile, the decision to name Flick as the former midfielder’s replacement has also been made and there are no doubts about it.

Laporta spoke to some Barcelona players about Flick

Now, AS reports that before greenlighting the appointment of Hansi Flick as the new manager, Laporta spoke to three Barcelona stars to get their opinion on him.

Indeed, as per the report, the Barcelona president sought the opinion of Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Ilkay Gundogan, who played under Flick for the German national team.

In addition, the Barça chief also discussed the matter with Robert Lewandowski, who enjoyed great success under Flick’s tutelage at Bayern Munich.

Deco and Laporta learned from those conversations that, beyond his professional quality, Flick is an honest guy with an honest human quality, an important value for managing a complicated dressing room in which roles are likely to change.

Convinced by everything they had heard from Flick as well as the three Barça stars they consulted, the Blaugrana have gone ahead and made the decision to name him the next manager.

Inevitably, Ter Stegen, Gundogan and Lewandowski could take on significant weight in the locker room under the German’s management.
