However, on May 25th, the team officially announced that they had dismissed Xavi from his position after three years.
This announcement was surprising because, just a few weeks earlier, there had been an agreement between the club’s board and Xavi about his future with the team.
Despite the January announcement about his eventual departure, it seemed both parties were on the same page about his continuation until the end of the season.
