Bernardo Silva had been one of the top targets for Barcelona heading into the summer transfer window when Xavi Hernandez was still in charge.
After all, the Spaniard had been angling for the signing of the Portuguese playmaker for a couple of years now.
Silva’s €58 million release clause was seen as gettable provided Barça were able to sanction some important sales.
However, with Xavi no longer at the helm of affairs, things appear to have changed as far as the Catalans’ stance on Silva is concerned.
Barcelona rule out move for Silva
Indeed, journalist Jose Alvarez now reports that Barcelona have ruled out a summer move for Bernardo Silva.
With the new manager set to take over imminently, the Blaugrana have other targets to pursue in the summer transfer window.

A top pivot continues to be a priority while Flick also seeks a new winger and possibly a full-back if Joao Cancelo does not continue.
As far as the advanced midfield positions are concerned, Barça appear to have enough resources in Pedri, Fermin Lopez, Ilkay Gundogan, and Frenkie de Jong (if he stays) while Gavi will also return from injury.
As such, it appears that the Catalan heavyweights have seemingly decided to move on from their long-standing interest in Silva and focus on other targets in the summer.
Bayern Munich mainstay Joshua Kimmich was one such target, but the report from Alvarez states that a move for the German pivot is also ruled out.
So, it will certainly be interesting to see how Barcelona go about business in their first transfer window under the management of Flick.
