Aston Villa are set to return to the UEFA Champions League after over 40 years, after finishing fourth in the Premier League table this season.
With a return to Europe’s top competition on the horizon, the Villans, who tied down manager Unai Emery to a new contract, are exploring making some headline signings.
It had given way to links with Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo, while his teammate Jules Kounde has also been tentatively linked.
Nothing to Aston Villa rumours
However, as per the latest update from Mundo Deportivo, Aston Villa are not interested in signing either Araujo or Kounde from Barcelona in the summer.
Having qualified for the Champions League, the Villans will look to strengthen the squad, but have no shown zero interest in the Barcelona defensive duo as things stand.
Furthermore, as has already been reported, Unai Emery’s men do not intend to retain the services of Barcelona loanee Clement Lenglet, who played his part in their top-four finish in the Premier League this season.

Other Premier League clubs keen
While Aston Villa might not be looking at Araujo and Kounde as targets, there are other Premier League clubs who have shown interest in the Barcelona defensive duo.
Araujo, for his part, is a target for both Chelsea and Manchester United in England while German giants Bayern Munich are also ready to splash big bucks on his signing.
Barça, though, intend to retain the services of Araujo and have tabled a renewal offer, although a response has not yet arrived.
As four Kounde, the Frenchman remains on the agenda at Chelsea, who had tried to sign him from Sevilla before his move to Barcelona.
The Catalans do not intend to part ways with the ex-Sevilla man either, although if a significant offer came in, it will likely be studied.
