Chelsea have joined the race to sign defender Tosin Adarabioyo on a free, despite Newcastle being in the driving seat in negotiations with the player’s representatives according to reports.
Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie took to X to say the London club have offered the defender a contract while Manchester United have also joined the race for the player’s signature.
Newcastle are known to be pursuing deals for both Adarabioyo and Lloyd Kelly who are free agents this summer.
“Chelsea have entered the race for Newcastle target Tosin Adarabioyo by offering the player a contract,” Downie said.
“#NUFC got in there quick with an offer but both #CFC & #MUFC can offer European football. Newcastle have made their position clear in terms of their offer. Big decision for the 26-year-old at this stage of his career.”
Newcastle missed out on European qualification after Manchester United won the FA Cup to take an extra Europa League spot, pushing Chelsea into a Europa Conference League spot.

Meanwhile, reporter Rudy Galetti of TV dello sport has suggested that talks went “well” between Adarabioyo’s camp and Chelsea as the Blues firmed their interest in making the defender the first arrival for the man they want in the dugout next season, Enzo Maresca.
