Keith Downie issues Newcastle update as Chelsea & Man U look to hijack Adarabioyo deal

Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie has revealed that Chelsea have now submitted a contract offer to Newcastle United target Tosin Adarabioyo, with Man Utd also keen.

At one point it did look as though free transfers for both Adarabioyo and Lloyd Kelly were almost wrapped up with the duo heading to the North East to kickstart our summer transfer window.

However, the Fulham defender could be tempted away with European football on offer elsewhere, although Downie insists we ‘got in there quick’ and could still win the race for the 6ft 5′ centre-back.

On a footballing level, Newcastle look to be the sensible choice with Chelsea currently looking to be a bit of a circus under the current ownership, as well as already having an abundance of central defenders, while Man United are not too dissimilar after finishing eighth in the league and preparing to sack ten Hag.

But as we’ve learned so many times now in football, money talks. Should the 26-year-old be offered a more lucrative and long-term deal elsewhere along with European football, Newcastle could find themselves back in the hunt for a new defender once again.

Chelsea have entered the race for Newcastle target Tosin Adarabioyo by offering the player a contract.
Manchester United having also shown interest. #NUFC got in there quick with an offer but both #CFC & #MUFC can offer European football.
Newcastle have made their position… https://t.co/v5HHaE1r2a
